On Sunday Albertson picked up the pace and recorded the 10th fastest lap time to grab him a solid gate pick.
MOTO 1: The 1st moto put Albertson about 14th off the start and crossing in 11th on the first lap. Moto battles with Summey, Cooper, and Jeff Alessi went on throughout the race. He would finish just behind the younger Alessi for 8th position at the checkers.
MOTO 2: Albertson had a great jump on the 2nd moto restart, and would hold down second position behind Stewart as they headed toward the step down double. Short and Ferry muscled their way by quickly. There would be race long battle with Jeff Alessi. Both Albertson and Alessi knew Top Privateer Honors for the day would depend on who crossed the finish line first. Jimmy lost out by 1 second to the Jeff at the finish. This would give him another top ten moto finish for the race day.
OVERALL : Consistency proved to be a huge factor on the day. Mike Alessi and Ferry both suffered poor results in one moto, while an 8th and 10th moto finish by Albertson would garner him a 7TH overall for Round 6 of the AMA Nationals in the premier class.
Albertson stated, “Staying healthy and getting top ten results are my main goals at this time”. Jimmy’s 7th overall finish was his first top ten at the national level, and he seems very optimistic about repeating those results at Budd’s Creek. He now stands 15th in points after only racing 3 of the 6 events held so far.
North Racing Inc. {NRi} Team Owner David Briggs was extremely pleased with hopes of continued success at the top level of the sport. Briggs states, “This is very much a team effort, and being an underdog to the factory guys just makes it that much more challenging”.
