Freestone Race Report!

Jimmy Albertson competed in his very first AMA National in the Premier MX Class at Freestone.
Saturday was qualifying where Jimmy recorded the 16th fastest lap time to put him into Sunday’s national race program. It was his first time riding at this facility and he rode consistent and conservative while learning the track.
Sunday’s practice times would be for gate pick. Jimmy moved up to 12th fastest lap time on Sunday as he became more familiar with the layout.

Moto 1- A slightly better than a midpack start left Jimmy in 14th after the first lap. A couple first race jitters put him back to 16th by lap two. About half way into the 17 lap race Jimmy seemed to catch a second wind and methodically moved himself up to 11th place by the end of the moto.
Moto 2- What appeared to be a top ten start was hampered as rider and then a couple others went down in the hairpin corner. After getting by about 4 or 5 riders in the first lap, Jimmy crossed the first lap in 23rd position. Riding with in his limits, he moved into 14th place by the end of the moto
Overall- An 11th and 14th overall gave Jimmy 12th overall on the day. This gave him 17 AMA points for the race. To let you know how every lap is important, he was 2 tenths of a second from getting 10th Overall.
Summary – Jimmy felt he had more speed, but rode a smart race for his first MX national to get two good moto finishes under his belt.

Next Round- High Point Raceway -June 14th and 15th
Jimmy will join forces with North Racing Inc. {NRi} for round four at High Point Raceway. NRi owner has hired Jimmy Albertson and Kyle Tobin to compete on Honda 450’s for 5 to 6 rounds back east. Jimmy is excited about the opportunity to race for owner David Briggs and the NRi team. Without the help of NRi, Jimmy would have been forced to have a very limited schedule of AMA national races.

A big thanks goes out to David Briggs and NRi for making it possible!!!
